For the stereo assignment, I started with thinking about what appears in two, either complements each other, or fight each other. I thought of a lot of things and chose to develop the concept with male and female, and hermaphrodite. In lots of myths, all living beings derive from integration of substances of opposite nature. It's said that the most perfect human is hermaphrodite. Human commit a sin so that god separate us into two, making us find one another in the whole life to return to the original state of human. Everything derives from the combination of two.
Priority monism states that all existing things go back to a source that is distinct from them; e.g., in Neoplatonism everything is derived from The One. In this view only one thing is ontologically basic or prior to everything else.
After thinking about gender, the art work Untitled (Perfect Lovers) came into my mind. It consists of two clocks that start in synchronization. However, they will fall out of sync because of the nature of the mechanism.
Don’t be afraid of the clocks, they are our time, the time has been so generous to us … We conquered fate by meeting at a certain time in a certain space … we are synchronized, now forever. I love you.

I was fascinated by the scene that two lovers, standing side by side, ticking in sync. As an audience, I felt it's charming, alluring and attractive, also scaring and a little worried for them, afraid of them being out of sync one day. I started to think of what is sync in sound.
I tried with MaxMsp and explored with clicking sound.
Machine is too precise. Instead, I want to use something that human eyes or ears could not tell if it's fading away but actually could feel it's gradually fading and feel worried for it.
I created this "Perfect Lover". Instead of "loverS", it is one person - the hermaphrodite, the perfect human. I hacked into a telephone line. Two vibrating motors and two batteries were soldered to the wire. Their life is connected tightly with each other because of the series circuit.
The clicking sound exploration in max -
